I filed for 2016 & was on the Apple plan & did not know I would receive a tax form for it.

Q) I filed for 2016 & was on the Apple plan & did not know I would receive a tax form for it. I have moved from where I was living after I filed & you are supposed to be on the plan for 6 or more months of the year you are filling for. Well when I filed the United Healt Care did my taxes & I could not remember how long I was on the plan. So when I filed my 2016 taxes they took $400.00 dollars from my taxes!!
How & what form do I fill out to get it? I will order a transcript for my 2016 taxes to show plus the 1095-B form. Please help.

A) I understand that you are having trouble getting a refund for the $400 that was taken out of your taxes when you filed for 2016. You were on the Apple Health plan for less than 6 months, and the United Healthcare company that filed your taxes did not know this.

To get a refund, you will need to file an amended tax return. This is a form that you can file to correct any mistakes that were made on your original tax return. To file an amended tax return, you will need to download Form 1040X from the IRS website.

Once you have downloaded the form, you will need to fill it out and mail it to the IRS. You will also need to attach any supporting documentation, such as your 1095-B form from Apple Health.

The IRS will review your amended tax return and will issue you a refund if you are owed one. It can take several months for the IRS to process an amended tax return, so be patient.

Here are the steps on how to file an amended tax return:

  1. Go to the IRS website and download Form 1040X.
  2. Fill out the form and attach any supporting documentation, such as your 1095-B form from Apple Health.
  3. Mail the form to the IRS.
  4. Be patient. It can take several months for the IRS to process an amended tax return.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
